My green beans are getting a head start on the year! My apartment's south facing windows are functioning as a greenhouse, which I worry will cause shock when I finally move them outdoors, but seems to mean I'm going to get green beans about 2 months ahead of schedule... who can argue with that?

I know, I know, a girl could eat so much better. But when I've got a drawer full of exotic ramen combinations, how can I resist??

This one wasn't bad, it came with little dried lettuce which was cute and a little creepy (slimy, when you get right down to it), and some wonton things that weren't too bad. I can't translate what that meat was, but it wasn't terrible. Would I eat it again? Sure. Am I saving the scary ones for last? Heck yeah.

tons of time to knit... this is one finished Voodoo wrist warmer. i made the thumb loop a bit too small, but it came out ok otherwise.

I hope my guest blogger doesn't mind an anonymous appearance on the public blog today, but I had to share the note because it made me laugh outloud when I received it today. Hooray for the fun of MMS and handwritten signs -- I'm such a sucker for meta humor.

Gotta defend Alabama, though, because it doesn't actually suck so bad, at least not yet. It's undergoing development like you wouldn't believe, which is sad because it's so wild and overgrown from all the highways. The people here are nice in that southerner way, which is to say, they all stop when merging so that someone else can continue without being inconvenienced.

The Vulcan is a Birmingham icon I'd never heard of before visiting here this week. He's got some body issues, but I guess he's kinda cute up there on the hill. Sorry this is a bad photo of him-- the park closes at dusk and as you can see I was there in the pitch blackness, and a security guard was about to run me down in his little golf cart so I had to shoot and run!

7am -- Give up on sleep and finish reading book I started last night.
8am -- Begin playing video game I have not touched in 3 months.
11am -- Video games make my head hurt. Birds at the bird feeder!!
12pm -- Red potato fritatta, mmmmm. Start reading new book.
2pm -- Rain stops.
5pm -- Decide to go outside for a while. Start laundry & dishwasher.
9pm -- Instant rice-in-a-box really IS good!
10pm -- Finish book.
