Wild vs Domestic

One of these turkeys was born to be eaten. The other was born to run free across the fields of Northern California. Guess which is which?

No One Can Stop Us Now

Headed home from work the night before Thanksgiving. Beautiful sunset came too early, was gone by the time I hit the bad traffic.

My Emotions Are Irrelevant

What we needed was DS9, and tomato soup with grilled cheese. This episode is The Maquis II... Israel and Palestine would be well served to take its lessons to heart, particularly the speech by Quark..

I Don't Give A Damn

Squash and spinach lasagna, inspired by an online recipe from Tastespotting' but reworked due to ingredients on hand and my general need to add pine nuts to EVERYTHING.

It was delicious.

Goodbye, Monday

God, today was a Monday. And thanks to my job, its going to continue to be a Monday until at least 11:30 tonight. But for now, before I run out the door to get groceries, isn't it a beautiful day?

I'm Feeling Good...

Finally made it to a burlesque show, Bye Bye Bush. This performer sang (well!) and shook her Os to celebrate reclaiming the flag for our side.

Progress

I had to take a Health Assessment today for work insurance coverage. In the age of a black president, equal marriage protests in all 50 states, and female vice presidents taken seriously enough to get 40+% of the vote... well, let's just say I was disappointed.

First we had question #36, which lists some illnesses they'd like to know if you suffer.

As you can see, your choices are Cancer, Asthma, Diabetes, Stroke, and... Menopause?

Um, that's a hereditary thing, right?

Next up, they want to know your relationship status.

I know that the background here is that statistically, people in long term committed relationships are healther than people who aren't. But, don't you think it's a little 50s of them to require that you be Married, Alone, or... Other?

History

The most telling (and inspiring) moment of Obama's speech was when he pointed out how far we have come in the last 100 years. I am sick and tired of being told this is the way we've "always" done things here. America is too fucking young to have "always" done anything. We've been changing since people first set foot on our WEST coast, and it's an amazing, wonderful moment to finally have a president who not only remembers it, but wants us to remember it, too.

Of COURSE we can.

The Future Is Bright

T is sitting at the table, ignoring a piece of warm, homemade chocolate cake, to help my little sister with her chemistry homework via gmail.

I think I'll keep her.

CrossWalk

Geese in the road, down ny the university.

Jurassic Fall

T and I found these amazingly huge leaves along our walk to breakfast this morning. They are held in size order, the biggest one in the back is that much taller and wider than the "little" yellow one in front.

These were a huge hit at the 14 Carrot this morning, we gave directions to the tree to more than one table!
